Debut Album

Album Release in Canada

Ray Griff said to Corinda (on April 16), "You know, Cori, I didn't write this album for radio, I wrote it for you, and it's a damn good album." When he returned from Nashville with the final mastered album (by Tom Endres at County Q Studios), Ray Griff optimistically figured there would be 7 potential singles.

The release was promoted in several ways:

  • Deborah Woods Publicity was hired to distribute and to track the single releases to Canadian radio.
  • Prior to the release, Corinda was signed up to perform for the Denim and Diamonds Benefit in support of Camp Jean Nelson, run by the Canadian Diabetes Association. To support this fund-raising event, Corinda donated 400 autographed CD singles of "For The Love Of It". This event raised more than $50,000 for the association's Camp Jean Nelson, a camp for children with diabetes.
  • Corinda also sang in Innisfail at the Ivan Daines Family Picnic, an annual rodeo event for over 25 years.

Distribution in Europe & Internationally

For Canadian and for international distribution, Corinda's record company, CCC Music Productions, worked with Indie Pool, CD Baby, and Hillcrest Releasing to include her songs in a number of widely-distributed compilation discs, to introduce the music to a wider audience of radio station DJs and music, film, and television industry professionals.

Indie Pool's compilation CD was released to the delegates and music, film, and television buyers. Indie Pool's compilation CDs "Unisgned" for Canadian Music Week 2003 (which is affiliated with the Juno Awards), for Country Music Week 2003 (affiliated with the CCMA Awards), and North by Northeast ("NXNE") 2003. Hillcrest Music also released several compilation CDs, which showcased Canadian & American independent artist.

On Ray Griff's advice, Corinda mailed out copies of her album, with an intro letter, (remember this was the early internet days, before YouTube and iTunes) to a number of DJs at European radio stations.

This resulted in personal contacts with a lot of radio DJs in Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Holland, The Faroe Islands, Spain, Sweden, the UK, and also from Australia. This led to significant airplay and record sales in each of these markets.

Every single released internationally rose into the Independent European Country Music Association ("ECMA") Top 20, and "If I Reached You" climbed to #5.

One of the first people in the press to contact Corinda during the PR phase of the album release was Paul Davis (Country Roundup Magazine, Traditional Music Maker), who interviewed Corinda by phone. Max W Aschatz (Country Circle Magazine, Germany) also heard the song and wrote a nice review.

Jan Patterson-Levi (country Music News) whom Corinda met at the CCMAs, heard the album and wrote Corinda's first review as a recording artist. Other reviews and write-ups were received from Pete Smith (Country Music Roundup UK), Sam Harris, (BBC Radio Newcastle), Alain Demers (Brest France), and Ted Clark (Radio Holland), whose comment that Corinda Chandler was "a new crossover popstar," was a particular favourite.
